ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS
We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.
- Where exactly is Rillan?
Rillan is located just ½ mile from the picturesque village of Drumnadrochit 15 miles from Inverness on the banks of Loch Ness.
- What time can we arrive?
You will have access to the cottage anytime after 3pm. However, if you would like to access the property earlier than this please contact us and we will, where possible, make special arrangements.
- How late can we arrive?
We understand that depending on where you are travelling from you may not arrive until the evening. This is not a problem as we will tell you how to obtain the keys so you can let yourself in.
- What time do we have to leave?
We request that guests leave the cottage clean and tidy by 10am.
- How far away is the nearest shop/restaurant
The nearest grocery shop is ½ mile away, where you can buy a wide range of everyday grocery items. There is a takeaway next door to the shop and a range of restaurants in the village of Drumnadrochit . There are hotels in the village too if you wish to have a quiet evening drink or meal.
- Is there a cash machine close by?
There is a cash machine next to the grocery shop, ½ mile away.
- How close are you to Loch Ness?
The mysterious Loch Ness can be seen from the cottage and is only about a mile away. You can walk down to the shore line via Urquhart Bay Woods.
- Do you have a bath tub and shower?
The bathroom has a bath with an electric shower that is situated over the bath. It is not a ‘walk-in’ shower.
- Do we need to bring our own towels or bed linen?
Towels and bed linen are provided at no extra cost.
- How many rooms do you have and how many can you accommodate?
We have two bedrooms. One has a kingsize double bed and the other has two single beds. The property can accommodate up to four people.
- Is there off-road parking?
There is space for at least three cars at the side of the property off the road.
- Do you allow dogs?
Unfortunately we do not allow dogs or other pets.
- Is there a log fire?
If you want to be really cosy on a chilly evening, Rillan has a log fire for your use. Logs and kindling are provided free of charge subject to availability. But you will need matches/lighter.
- Do you cater for people with disabilities?
Rillan is all on one level so no need to worry about stairs or steps once inside. However there are a couple of stairs into the property via the front door with a handrail. For visitors who are confined to a wheelchair, unfortunately Rillan would not be suitable.
- Where is the nearest airport/train station?
Inverness is the nearest airport about a 40 minute drive from Rillan. There are flights from across the UK and so flying is an easy option. There are car hire facilities at the airport. The nearest main line train station is Inverness. There are many car hire companies in Inverness, some will meet you at the station or airport.
- Is there a bank or a post office nearby?
The village of Drumnadrochit does have a bank and a post office. The bank is only open on Tuesdays 10.00 – 15.30, but the post office is open during normal opening hours.
- Can I get petrol easily?
There is a petrol station in the village and is generally open during normal trading hours. For cheaper petrol it is probably better to get this at one of the supermarkets in Inverness which is 15 miles away.
- Do you offer short breaks?
We do accommodate short breaks these are mostly during off-peak times (November to April) and for a minimum stay of three nights (minimum charge £250). Please contact us with your preferred dates and we will be pleased to advise you of cost and availability. From May – October the cottage is let on a weekly basis (7 days) Saturday to Saturday.
- Do you have wi-fi?
Sorry, unfortunately Rillan does not have wi-fi. If you are a BT Total Broadband customer you will be able to connect to a BT ‘Hot Spot’, free of charge. There are ‘Hot Spots’ close to Rillan so connectivity is possible. If you are not a BT customer, you can buy time on the internet. Visit www.btopenzone.com for further information.
